My Tire: A Bold Display Font for Branding Projects

I had just received the brief for a new local coffee roaster's visual identity. They wanted something that felt industrial but approachable, robust but not too serious. My usual font library was feeling a bit stale, so I opened up a blank artboard and decided to start experimenting with something new. That’s when I typed out “Handcrafted Roast” for the first time in My Tire.

The Visual Punch of My Tire

My Tire is exactly what its name suggests: bold, rounded, and built with a certain grounded strength. It’s a display font that commands attention without screaming. The characters have a cool, chunky presence with slightly softened edges, giving it a modern yet friendly feel. The mood is confident and contemporary, perfect for a brand that wants to stand out from the crowd of delicate scripts and thin sans-serifs. Its design appeal lies in that balance – it’s not overly aggressive, but it’s absolutely not shy.

For the coffee roaster’s logo draft, I used My Tire for the main brand name. Immediately, it gave the wordmark a solid, tangible quality. It looked like something you could stamp onto a burlap sack or etched onto a metal sign. This wasn’t a font that would get lost.

From Mockup to Real-World Application

Once the logo felt right, I began extending My Tire across the initial brand materials. Its role as a headline and accent font became clear.

Creating a Cohesive Brand Identity

On the packaging mockups, for the primary product line name like “Dark Sumatra,” My Tire provided excellent readability and visual hierarchy. It sat prominently above the supporting descriptive text, naturally drawing the eye. For social media graphics announcing a new blend, using My Tire in the headers made the posts pop against the feed. It translated perfectly from print to digital.

I imagined it on a physical shop sign – the letters would hold their form beautifully, readable from a distance. On a business card, the brand name in My Tire created instant recognition, with plenty of room for other details in a paired typeface.

Practical Testing and Pairing

Before committing to a full brand system, I always test a display font in various contexts. I placed My Tire on a simple homepage hero section mockup. Its bold weight filled the space with authority, making a strong first impression. For a product label sticker, I used it for the roast strength indicator (“Level 5”), and it added a touch of personality without sacrificing clarity.

A key step was finding a complementary typeface to pair with it. My Tire’s bold, rounded nature works wonderfully with a clean, neutral sans-serif for all body text, menus, and longer descriptions. That pairing creates a clear contrast and keeps the overall look professional and consistent. For this project, I chose a simple geometric sans for everything else, letting My Tire be the unmistakable star for headlines, logos, and key accents.

The Role of a Display Font in Brand Perception

Using a font like My Tire directly affects how a brand is perceived. Its strength conveys reliability and substance. For a product-based business, like a roastery or a skincare brand, that tactile, bold feel suggests quality and craftsmanship. It helps build a visual identity that feels both modern and timeless.

In editorial design, say for a boutique’s monthly newsletter, My Tire could be used for section titles, creating engaging breaks in the content. For a creative studio’s portfolio website, using it in project headers adds a dose of confident personality. It’s a font that encourages audience engagement because it’s visually interesting—it makes people pause and look.

It’s important to remember that My Tire is a display font. It excels in short-form text: logos, headlines, product names, callouts, and signage. It’s not designed for long paragraphs. Respecting that use case is crucial for maintaining professionalism and readability in your designs.

Building Out the Full System

With the core identity set, I expanded the use of My Tire into other commercial design assets. For merchandise like t-shirts or tote bags, the font’s bold characters print beautifully and retain their impact. I created digital templates for the client’s Instagram stories, with predefined text boxes using My Tire for key phrases, ensuring brand consistency across their team.

When working with a display font for client work, always check the practical details. For My Tire, I explored its included styles and any alternates to see if there were variations for certain letters that could add extra flair. Considering its multilingual support and the available file formats (like OTF or TTF) is essential for a smooth workflow across different software and for future scalability. Understanding the commercial font licensing ensures you and your client can use it confidently across all branded materials, from packaging to web ads.

A Tool with Endless Possibilities

The product description said to explore its endless possibilities, and that rings true. After applying it to the coffee roaster project, I started seeing other places it could shine. For a handmade shop’s bold, statement poster. For a local restaurant’s menu cover and featured dish titles. For a skincare brand’s premium product line packaging, where the font’s solid forms echo the feel of a sturdy, elegant jar.

My Tire is more than just a cool font. It’s a versatile design asset that, when used thoughtfully, can become the cornerstone of a memorable brand identity. It provides that crucial piece of visual language that makes a brand feel distinct and intentional. My test project confirmed that—from the first mockup to the final imagined brand materials, My Tire held up, added character, and never faded into the background. It’s a typeface I’ll keep in my toolkit for clients who need a voice that’s clear, confident, and ready to be seen.
